Living While in the Wilderness: By Dr. Benny Hill

“The Lord said to Moses, make a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” Numbers 21:8

The children of Israel had been wandering in the wilderness for nearly 40 years. Some may ask, “WHY?” Well, mainly because of unbelief. The moment the Lord delivered them out of Egyptian bondage, He led them directly into the wilderness (Ex. 13:18), to show them who they really were and to also show them who he really was. Being in a wilderness experience is not always an easy thing. In fact, it’s a very difficult process as faith must always be tested, and great faith must always be tested greatly. Someone has well said that it took just weeks for the Children of Israel to get out of Egypt, but it took a lifetime to get Egypt out of them.

KNOW THIS, you may be in a wilderness experience right now, but if you keep believing and trusting in the Lord, you will go through that wilderness. It was NEVER meant for you to stay in the wilderness, but for you to come through it as a stronger Christian than you were before.

The Lord never intended for the Children of Israel to travel through the wilderness for 40 years. It was a journey that should have taken no more than two years at the most. But, as most of us do, when the hard times come, we want to quit and go back to our old lifestyles.

Always remember this, no matter how hard things may be at the moment, even though things may be tough, you must take comfort in knowing that, “Trouble Don’t Last Always”. Therefore, come out of that bondage, get your joy back, get your peace back, and get your song back. You say HOW? By reading your word, believing the word, singing praises to God, and associating yourself with strong positive Christians.

Be Blessed!
